Cracked Ceramic Spark Plug

Fortunately the vehicle was under warranty and ford replaced the engine.
Cracked ceramic spark plug. Has been in for a little over a month. Sometimes they develop a crack in the porcelain causing it to break. What is your question. Dirt or moisture on the outside of the spark plug that provides a conductive path to ground or an internal crack in the spark plug s ceramic insulator that shorts the plug to ground also can be the culprit.
How the spark plug works. Fire requires three components. Is it about a plug that broke or a plug that has oil on it. Oxygen o2 fuel and heat in your engine every time a cylinder pulls an intake stroke it pulls in air 21 o2 port injection engines inject fuel during the intake stroke while direct injection engines gasoline or diesel might wait until the compression stroke.
The cylinder head had a crack. Nothing was missing but like i said cracked all the way thru both sides crack was running vertical splitting the porcelain into two halves which of course grounded out the plug. Finally heat is provided in one of two ways. Mostly spark plug insulators are made from a substance known as sintered alumina which is a very hard ceramic material with a high dielectric strength.
If its about an oily plug then if the oil is on the electrode then the engine is burning oil if the oil is on the outside of the then there is an oil leak from a gasket that. A wet spark plug likely means that it hasn t been firing due to engine flooding or a bad ignition cable. I had this happen on a 1990 ford aerostar. Guess what code popped up p0303 you guessed it cracked plug.
If the plug broke it may have been over tightened when installed.
