Create Mass Floors

Mass floors are based on levels defined in the project.
Create mass floors. To use the floor by face tool you first create mass floors. In new schedule dialog box find mass floor. To create a floor from a mass floor open a view that displays the mass. If you have not already done so add levels to the project.
This can form the whole floor but just as effective is a strip of polished or tiled concrete along the sunny side of the room or a slab. When you select a finished mass in the project revit will display in the properties window the total area of all the mass surfaces and the volume but not the floor area. To create floors from a mass instance use the floor by face tool or the floor tool. Mass floors calculate floor areas in a mass instance.
Now you will see the conceptual mass divided to 50 levels. You can select the mass in any type of project view including floor plan rcp elevation section and 3d views. Schedule is a view so go to view tab and click schedule schedule quantities. After creating a mass for a conceptual design create a mass floor at each level defined in the project.
By the same example if you are a creating mass floor with only one level the mass must exist above and below that level so that revit can find the intersection and make the floor. However if you select the mass and hit the mass floors button in the modify mass tab you can create mass floors and the gross floor area will be shown in the properties window.
The next step from this conceptual mass study is creating the mass floor schedule. Click modify mass tabmodel panel mass. In the type selector select a floor type.
