Door Keeps Scraping Floor

A dragging corner makes a door difficult to open and close.
Door keeps scraping floor. Houses settle over time which often causes a door to sag inside its frame. Interior doors are often hollow with only 1 inch 2 54 cm of wood to stabilize the door. Use a screwdriver to tighten the screws in the top hinge on the door and frame. Doors bind and scrape for several reasons but it s frequently due to loose hinges or slight movement in the building which throws door openings slightly out of square.
First run a piece of paper at the bottom of door to identify where is sticky. If your door is a solid wood door you have more leeway in regards to how much wood you can remove. Over time these screws can work their way loose causing the bottom of the door to drag on the floor. I also made sure there is spare space between the top of the door and the frame when it was closed so it can still be closed even when it s a bit higher.
Here s a quick 20 minutes diy task to fix a door that is sticky. After putting the door back the pieces of wire inside the hinges made it a bit higher and it stopped catching on the floor. I shoved such a piece up the barrel of each one of the door s hinges. Do not remove more than 1 4 to 1 2 of an inch 64 to 1 27 cm of wood.
